Conservation work sessions and events

BCG Programme for 2012
Below is our outline programme for 2012. We need to plan well ahead for several reasons including, for example, the need to coordinate with the rangers with whom we work on council tasks. We also like to give members the forecast of events so that you can keep dates free of other commitments whenever possible.

The programme is flexible for we are always prepared to change dates or tasks in response to weather conditions or for other reasons. In parallel with the main Sunday dates given, there will be a programme of mid-week sessions to enable us to keep abreast of our extensive range of tasks.

Details of all work sessions will be circulated in Calling Notices issued by e-mail about a week ahead. Work sessions are normally from 10.00am until 1.00pm and it is helpful if you can keep to those hours. You will see in the programme our well established pattern of work and we will once again have an eye on getting our sites in good shape for Farnham in Bloom in July. There is one new item which is clearance of The Bourne Stream ie, removal of litter and other larger objects dumped there and which may cause problems downstream. In mid-week sessions we shall return to the Underdown Nature Reserve where we did good work with the Surrey Wildlife Trust in autumn 2011, and undertake additional Himalayan Balsam clearance and bulb planting later in the year. We may also help out in Battings Garden on the Ridgway.

This is an extremely demanding programme. We shall need lots of help from everyone!
